The first alcoholic drink known to man 

 Originally created in Babylon where newlyweds were supplied with honey wine for a whole month by the father of the bride ( to encourage the continuation of the family line).

Hence the term "Honeymoon"

 Mead  was favored by Viking warriors, and was the base for ancient medicines.
